This is the Door Installation Page
Our Installers Value Your Home
Our trained installation crews will arrive at you house between 9 and 10am unless otherwise scheduled. When the team shows up the lead installer will introduce himself and the crew to you. Before any one walks in to your valued home we will set in place runners and the lead will enter the home after putting on his booties to protect your carpet. He will then walk the inside of your home taking pictures of your door/doors to be replaced. The reason for this is to ensure that we have documentation of your home on the interior to ensure that it looks the same when we leave if not better. After the lead walks the inside he will than walk with you outside taking pictures before any work is to start on your home.
Protection of your Property is Our Number one Concern
When you are done with the walk-through the crews will begin to set up their site protection. This entails one installer laying runners in all walk ways being used. If the door we are replacing has carpet underneath it we use large drop cloths. If there is hard wood floors we will put down a protective cover called ram board it is thick and strong to ensure that no damage is done to your hard wood flooring. After the floor is protected they will cover all other property within a 10ft radius. While this happens an installer on the exterior of your home will be laying tarps under the openings were the work will start. We will being very careful not to trample any gardens. We pride ourselves on protecting your property.
Proper Removal Eliminates Frame Damage
After all site protection is properly set up work will begin. They will start by removing the door from your existing opening. One installer will remove the door and hand it to another installer on the outside of your home. When the door is removed from the frame then t
hey will begin to remove the door frame. After they have removed the frame from the opening they will start to cut the liner boards back. This has to be done so that the door is properly seated on the framing. While cutting we will be using a fabricated circular saws that has a spout on the top that we hook up to powerful shop vacuums. The vacuum cuts saw dust and debris down to a minimum. The saws also are set up with jigs that will ensure a straight and clean cut. When done sawing we take a sanding block to the edges of the liner boards to create a smooth and clean surface. Before the installer puts the new door into the opening he will inspect it for and water damage. If the door is not within 3 feet of an eve or is on the weather side of the house they will install a drip cap flashing above the door so that water does not sit on the top of the door. After all inspections and flashing are installed it is time to install the door. The door will be hauled up from the outside and inserted and attached to the framing.
We Leave a Clean Finish
When the door is properly secured and the window is squared off or leveled they will begin to wash the glass and the frame on both the interior and exterior. They will also remove the door’s protective covers. After the door is clean the installers will caulk the interior latex caulk that is paintable. If you happen to have stained wood liners they will use a silicon caulk that goes on white but in a few hours it will turn clear this is also stainable. The exterior is caulked with a polyurethane caulk that will never harden or yellow it is imperative that the exterior caulk line witch Is very small and clean is to be painted this will add an extra layer of protection if there is any preexisting cracks or any cracks that may happen during the removal of the old frame they will be filled with a clear caulk or a caulk that closely resembles the paint on your home.
Clean-up is a Priority
When the installer is done with the opening he will remove all the site protection equipment and clean up any mess the vacuum saw may miss. We go over your home with a vacuum to ensure we leave your house the way it was when we
arrived. When the opening is totally complete we will move to the next opening. We will not expose your house to the elements. Completing each opening ensures that the door is properly installed and that no detail of the installation process is not complete.
After all doors are installed and all the debris and tools are loaded on the truck the lead will take interior as well as exterior pictures. He will then walk each opening with home owner explaining how the door and screens operate. This is the best time to ask any questions or voice any concerns you may have.
Taking Care of Business
The final step to the installation process is the paper work. The lead installer will go over all warranties and all the other paper work in the install packet. After all paper work has been covered the lead installer will collect final payment and address any final questions you may have. The very next responsibility is yours. We would like you to show off your beautiful new doors and pass along our name proudly to friends and neighbors.
